Got concrete?

Has anyone noticed around campus the random squares of concrete off the sidewalks? They are surrounded by hay, which of course, are to help protect the grass that is to be growing there but why a concrete slab? I have no idea what they could be. Does anyone know or have the slightest idea about it? I would greatly appreciate it if the university would send us an e-mail and inform us about it. I'm curious. However, the good news is that our tuition is going to good use!

Loosy Goosy

Stretching does wonders for your body. I don't know that exact things that it helps your body with but it sure makes me feel a whole lot better. I just lifted legs on Monday and it has been awhile since I worked out my legs. I definitely felt it this morning. When I try to stretch my legs to make them feel better I get extremely hot extremely fast. I think it gets your blood going through your body and increases your heart rate. Being flexible was easy when I was a kid but now that I'm older, I am not as limber as I used to be. It really takes a lot out of you to stretch and to get the flexibility you want. It's hard to fit in time in your day to stretch too. Sure you can stretch before you workout but stretching your body can be a workout as itself. How many of your stretch? I think I'm going to start adding that to my routine. I need to stretch.

Sanitize yourself.

I am sure that a number of the people blogging have been to the ARC more than one time in their college career at Slippery Rock. I'm sure everyone uses the various machines that have the bottles of sanitizer on the ends of them. How many of you use them? It is understandable for it to simply slip your mind after doing your last, hard repetition for that last set. But the person who is going to use that machine after your sweat, dead skin and whatever else you may be carrying around with you is on it, won't be so understandable. It got me thinking about this today after using a machine right after another was done. I know he was done and was getting out of my way but why not take the time to clean up your sweaty mess? I sure don't want to sit in it while I work on that machine. The ARC is a place for you to workout. It offers tools to do such a thing as promoting a healthy lifestyle. So why can't people help promote health in such a little way as sanitizing what they just used? I'd rather not catch a cold or sickness while working out.

Public Speaking Speech about Working Out

In about two weeks, I have to give a persuasive speech in my Public Speaking class. The topic I picked is to persuade people to workout/be active. I know I want to add a lot of statistics but I need to do my research and make sure they are good, solid facts. However, I don't know what I can use as a visual aid nor what to do for other content in my speech. Anyone have any ideas? I was going to do a PowerPoint but that can be boring anymore. Does anyone know of any visual aids that could be useful to get my point across? I need to try to break it down into maybe three main points.
